Working where there is no network

A train crossing a dead zone, a six-hour flight, a trip abroad with no data plan: those are the moments an online assistant becomes useless. Local mode keeps answering. You write, you search your files, you plan your day — and the large models come back the moment the connection does.

Local mode is also privacy

Some files should leave no computer at all: a contract under negotiation, health data, a project under embargo. In local mode the question no longer arises. The model runs on your machine, the request goes nowhere, and there is nobody you have to trust on this.

A model picked for your machine

Dalenda does not ask you to understand AI models. The app looks at your computer and suggests the one that fits it:

The principle is simple: the AI runs on any computer, and the more powerful your machine, the more capable the model you can install.

Acting on the files on your computer

The desktop app can see your local files, which a browser cannot. You ask in plain language, it does the work:

• Work on local files: read, organise, edit and create files in the folders Dalenda is given access to, with nothing uploaded to the cloud.
• Search your documents without having to remember where you filed them.
• Read, summarise and compare files that stay on your disk.
• Chain actions across several files at once, from a single instruction.
• Produce documents, presentations and spreadsheets, formulas included.

The audio features that need the app

This is where the desktop app parts ways with online mode. Once a recording is finished, the audio and its transcript can be saved straight to the computer rather than to the cloud. And pulling the transcript of a piece of content from a URL only works from the desktop app.

Desktop or browser: which to choose

Both give you the same product. The browser is enough for everyday use, from any machine. The desktop app adds what a browser cannot offer: access to your files, local AI and working with no connection. It is available for Windows and macOS.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a powerful computer?

No. Local AI runs on any computer; it is the suggested model that adapts. A powerful machine can run a more capable model, but a modest one is not left out.

What happens when I lose my connection?

You switch to local mode and the assistant keeps answering with the model installed on your machine. The large online models come back as soon as the connection does.

Does my data leave my computer in local mode?

No. That is the whole point of the mode: the model runs on your machine and the request is sent nowhere.

Can I use Dalenda on mobile and on desktop?

Yes. Dalenda works in the browser and in the Windows and macOS desktop app. Local mode and access to the machine's files are specific to the desktop app.
